Sign Offs, Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review

Please be aware that 5/25 is Memorial Day, so if Scouts are signed up for that date, ACTUAL sign offs will be conducted sometime that week based on ASM availability and coordination with the Scout's parent.

Adults and Scouts, this is your opportunity to sign up for Rank Advancement Sign Offs, Boards of Review ("BOR"), and/or Scoutmaster Conferences. Very few of you are taking advantage of this opportunity to continue advancing in Scouting – it is challenging, but there are still advancements that you can complete and get signed off virtually at this time!

NEW Scouts should all be working on completing their Scout ranks at this time, then Tenderfoot, as possible.

Also, Scouts and parents, please be aware that you must take a picture of your Scout’s Handbook for the rank in question (and Camping and Service Logs as needed) and email to the Assistant Scoutmaster (ASM) and BOR contact once assigned, to enable them to verify that Scoutbook is up to date.

Parents are more than welcome to add dates in Scoutbook.com that are missing – just don’t click Recorded/Approved (if you have that capacity.)

All responses are required by Sunday at noon in order to schedule on Sunday for Monday night’s meeting.

1. Scouts Sign Up to participate in a Zoom video conference with an ASM, along with your parent, in order to get Rank Advancement sign-offs (Scout through Life Rank) or a Scoutmaster conference (up to First Class only)  Please see your e-mail for the link to the Sign Up Genius.
2. Scouts Sign Up to participate in a Zoom video conference for Scoutmaster Conference for Star or Life Rank. Again, see your e-mail for that specific link.
3. Scouts Sign up for Boards of Review (BOR): After your Scoutmaster Conference is signed off by an ASM, Scouts need to email Ms. Boyd at troop1910advancements@gmail.com to request a BOR, and she will then put you on the BOR list. BOR’s are first-come, first served, so you must wait your turn until you receive an email with your scheduled BOR Zoom meeting.
4. ASM Sign Up to volunteer to conduct Zoom video conference with Scouts for Sign Offs or SM Conferences (Scout's parent must be present to conduct the conference). There's a separate link for this in your weekly e-mail.
5. Adults Sign Up to volunteer to participate in Boards of Review with Scouts - you need prior experience participating on a Board of Review please. See email links for those.

Everyone should be mindful of the 2 deep leadership requirement for youth protection - there shall be no one-on-one contact with Scouts, including teleconference, email, video conference, etc., so the parent must be included in all cases. NO exceptions!

One update is that the BSA has implemented temporary changes to allow Scouts to complete rank requirements by video conferencing through September 1, 2020. This deadline will be re-evaluated as needed.
