Chisholm Trail

Chisholm Trail is a unique and unforgettable high adventure, the first of many for most scouts. While most High Adventure experiences require a scout to be 14, those who are 12 and have completed the 7th grade or 13 years old (by June) and older may attend Chisholm Trail.

At Chisholm Trail, we get a pontoon boat for a week, do six high adventure outposts, and cool off with watersports all afternoon every day!  The outposts could have us fighting in living history battles, tubing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, jumping on the blob, and more!

Chisholm Trail 2020 deposits of $100 per person are due to Bob Morgan.

Potential dates:
June 7-13 (note that these dates conflict with Northern Tier)
or
June 28 – July 4 (the week after Summer Camp)

The date selected will depend on most participants’ availability.

While Northern Tier is a minimum age of 14, it is not expected to be a huge conflict in that regard, as Chisholm Trail is typically utilized as an introduction to High Adventure camping. We need to register ASAP, so please check out the info at the link above and let us know!

Scout Accounts may be used for such purpose of course. Total cost estimated at $430 per participant and adults are $400. We need to reserve our boat(s) now, and # seats per boat is limited, so need an accurate count of attendees at this time, i.e. please don’t commit if you aren’t sure that you can attend.

We will need minimum 2 adult leaders to attend – see leader guide at: https://www.longhorncouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Chisholm-Trail-Leaders-Guide-2018.pdf

Parents should attend Troop meeting to discuss Chisholm Trail options with Bob Morgan. Currently, have RSVP’s for A. James, F. Cook, and M. Warren, but need at least 2 adults to lead and a few more adults and boys to reserve a 9-person boat for the camp ASAP.

Chisholm Trail

We are in need of an adult leader to lead our Chisholm Trail Adventure this summer as REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.

Chisholm Trail is for those Scouts aged 13 or older or who have completed 7th grade by June 2019. It's like the first high adventure experience they can have in Boy Scouts. Wouldn't it be awesome to make that happen for them?  A reminder **everyone attending must pass BSA Swimmer’s Test.

See more information HERE.

Troop Meeting Tonight

Welcome back from your caving experience Troop 1910! Reminder that there is a Troop meeting tonight. See you at the Family Life Center at 7pm. LOTS of exciting things are amping up but there's lots to be done in the interim.

There will be a Summer Camp Parent Meeting tonight. If your Scout is attending summer camp, you'll want to attend this meeting to find out what he should pack in his footlocker, what not to bring, how to square things with the Medicine Man, Banker, Postmaster, etc., and more. Final payments and Part C of the Annual Health and Medical Record are due tonight as well.

A fillable pdf of PART C of the medical form can be found HERE

PART C of the Annual Health Form must be filled out by a doctor -- don’t forget a DUPLICATE (you must bring two copies of Part C).

If your insurance provider has changed since the first of the year, please bring a copy of the front and back of insurance card (AGAIN need DUPLICATE/TWO copies ).

Merit Badge sign up forms for summer camp will also need to be completed and turned in at tonight's meeting. THIS FORM includes rank requirements and other prerequisites for taking certain merit badge classes.

There will also be a Chisholm Trail Planning meeting at the Troop meeting tonight. We will discuss packing, what to expect, pick our preferred stations for each day of the adventure, etc. Reminder: You must turn in copy of all Medical Forms (A,B, and C – physical exam) and copy of insurance card to Bob Morgan by May 21– this is for Scouts and Scouters.
