SPRING FLOWER SALES

Troop 1910's Spring Flower Fundraiser starts August 27!

ORDERS AND PAYMENT DUE:  March 4 (If you cannot attend the meeting that night, you may email the scanned order form to Kelly Morgan and make arrangements to get the payment to her. )

FLOWERS DELIVERED:  April

The Order Form can be found AT THIS LINK.

The Information Sheet with color photos of the types of flowers sold can be found AT THIS LINK.

As always, collect at the point of sale. We are selling flats of 18 flowers in various types and colors.
Price per flat: $17--very competitive with stores
Profit per flat: $6 per flat directly into your Scout account and $2 per flat to the troop

A SCOUT IS THRIFTY. A Scout works to pay his own way.

Sell 21 flats... pay your dues for the next year!
Sell approximately 50-60 flats… pay for summer camp!

...You get the idea. Scouts, this is a wonderful way to pay your own way!

You will pick up the flats you sell and deliver them when they arrive. They are scheduled to be delivered in April. In the past, they have coordinated our delivery on a Monday just prior to our meeting. The flowers are grown locally and have been very hardy plants.

The linked forms make selling simple! If you are not comfortable going through your neighborhood, you can email the picture page to your neighbors. (Neighbors are your easiest deliveries.) Our family has great success with repeat customers on this fundraiser, and our list grows each time. I also advertise for our son on my Facebook page. Almost all of his Scout fees have been paid directly from his Scout account primarily thanks to this fundraiser.

Some additional selling tips are:

  1. Tell the customer what you are working toward--summer camp, paying your own dues, high adventure, etc. People love to help you reach a goal!
  2. Tell them it’s a great way to get flowers without getting dirt in their car.
  3. Encourage friends and neighbors to share your flyer. Here is the Facebook message I posted if anyone wants to copy and tweak it. I’ve also attached a picture of the flower choices I used with this wording.
Walker is selling flats of spring flowers to earn his way in Boy Scouts and pay for his trip to Philmont this summer. We will deliver in April, so no dirt will be in your car! The order is due Monday, March 4th. Please let us know if you're local and would like some. A flat is 18 four-inch plants for $17. Feel free to share this with your friends.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Kelly Morgan 972-567-9747 kelly.morgan1998@gmail.com

Aquatic Scohool

Aquatic School is a leadership program teaching Scouts and Venturers to be strong leaders, instructors of aquatics skills, and planners of unit aquatics activities.

Aquatic School is much more than simply a “lifeguard school” — rather, it’s a leadership and skills development program that gives your Scouts or Venturers the skills needed to make them better instructors and better leaders.

Aquatic School graduates are taught the fundamentals of Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat, the principles of teaching a non-swimmer, planning skills for Unit swims and float plans, as well as aquatic first aid and emergency procedures. Graduates also learn and hone public speaking and presentation skills, and 16 Scouting knots. Unit Leaders who sign up at least 2 A-School participants get an Aquatic School Recruiter t-shirt.

Aquatic School takes place July 7-13 at Worth Ranch.  For more information visit www.aquaticschool.org and watch the video below.

February Campout

Photo Source - Wild Cave Tours @ Colorado Bend State Park

For our February campout, we'll be going to Colorado Bend State Park where we will be doing some caving. This will also be a Philmont practice campout.

"Come and get an introduction to real wild caving with The Adventure Tour, our beginner's version of an authentic Central Texas Caving experience. This trip is our intermediate difficulty tour and it takes you a little deeper underground than our Discovery Tour but it is a relaxed and easy expedition for anyone who is ready to crawl and get dirty!" The Discovery Tour is also available for anyone who prefers a less-intense experience."

Please note there are costs associated with the cave tours.  The cost for the Adventure Tour is $25/person. The cost of the shorter Discovery Tour is $12/person. Descriptions of both tours are found HERE. The $15 food to the patrol's QM is due the Monday before the camping trip.

Permission forms are HEREThese are due February 11.

Meal planning will be conducted at the February 18 Monday night Troop meeting.
