Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)

Signing up for a leadership position and being elected doesn't necessarily make one a natural-born leader. Sometimes those skills must be learned, honed and refined.  Enter ILST.

The purpose of the ILST course is to teach Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. It is intended to help Boy Scouts in leadership positions within their troop understand their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities. ILST is the first course in the series of leadership training offered to Boy Scouts. Completion of ILST is a prerequisite for Boy Scouts to participate in the more advanced leadership courses National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE).

Troop 1910's ILST event is this Saturday, September 23 from 7:30-1:00. The training will be held at the Scout House and is for anyone elected to a troop leadership position or who is considering running for an elected position in the future.

Mr. Bennett will be making breakfast and lunch and we have an exciting presentation lined up for the training. However, we need an accurate headcount for meal purposes.  Please RSVP to your Scoutmaster, Mr. Buell by Thursday evening if you plan to participate.
